R&D and Credit Rationing in SMEs*
We study the effects of credit rationing on Research and Development (R&D) investment using survey and accounting data on a large representative sample of manufacturing small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). Our econometric model accounts for the endogeneity of our credit rationing indicator and employs an innovative theory based identification strategy. We find that credit rationing has a s...

In 2005, the leadership of the Department of Cardiology at Children’s Hospital Boston became convinced that serious health care reform was inevitable in this country, and that “health care reform” was simply an alias for reducing costs. We began to prepare for that inevitable change in the landscape by attempting to create cost-effective clinical care algorithms for the outpatient department in...
متن کاملThe Efficiency of Rationing and Resale∗
Housing, health care, and education are often rationed in the sense that the allocation process involves non-market mechanisms. We study rationing in a market in which some buyers face binding wealth constraints and resale is permitted. Buyers with a high willingness-to-pay for a good but a low ability-to-pay may not acquire it in a free market. Rationing gives these buyers a chance to acquire ...
متن کاملConsistency Rationing in the Cloud: Pay only when it matters
Cloud storage solutions promise high scalability and low cost. Existing solutions, however, differ in the degree of consistency they provide. Our experience using such systems indicates that there is a non-trivial trade-off between cost, consistency and availability. High consistency implies high cost per transaction and, in some situations, reduced availability. Low consistency is cheaper but ...

Analysis of OECD ...
